It is a pity that most people dread the afternoon, the hottest part of the day. Ask a layman as to what he would associate an afternoon with and the things that come out most often than not are a heavy sumptuous lunch, a nice afternoon siesta, catching up on some hard-to-catch flick, setting things in order so on so forth. But for me this afternoon has an entirely different dimension associated with it. Through an entirely different lens I capture this time, frames which to me are no less colorful than captivating patterns in a kaleidoscope. Like a small child in an overgrown body. I look around the different events, objects and occurrences fascinated as if I was seeing nothing less than the scenes of the Arabian Nights.
Yes I do feel like a child. Come question me as to what do I find fascinating in this hot afternoon. The entire creation seems to dislike this. Not a soul out, not even the most hardworking of Gods offspring. Still I like it, still I can gaze at it as if I were an astronomer looking relentlessly for that celestial spectacle.
Look around and look closely you shall take back those words that the world is standstill. Only an optically incapacitated can speak otherwise. Behold the life all around, hear with your eyes, look through your ears, feel with the most benevolent of gifts given to human - senses.
No its not a mistake when I say hear with your eyes. Looking at things is something our eyes do all the time. Only the trained eyes can hear. How ?? Let me show you how. If ever get the privilege of lazing around on a hot afternoon then look out for those lush green trees, trees which seem to sway to the very tunes of the wind. Tress that are magical. The warm wind comes and as if by some spell they transform these warm gust of winds to cool breeze which your sense will relish. I see those high trees with their lush green leaves, which are ike free birds, singing and dancing to the wind. Yes hear those tunes with your eyes, feel the event. Listen to that bird chirping, no there are two of them... And see them through your auditory senses. Imagine the birds taking a dip in mounds of loose dust and hopping from here to there and back here looking for a peck of grain. Hear the wind hitting the door of a house left open and imagine it. Yes you can see thorugh your ears.
A noise here and there, a lonely postman coming and dropping mails in this world where we try to make his job obsolete. A rare truck wrooming by, yes somebody is moving away from this neighbourhood to a new one. The tar roads which get heated up and smell like freshly made coaltar. A passenger airplane which I do not kno has just taken off or is expected to land soon flying above my head. Leaving traces of just the echoing engines all around the otherwise quiet setting of the afternoon. Yes I have to admit urbanization has its own charm. It surely does.
A lonely cloud in the sky, the deep blue sly looks lost, like a lamb seperated from its flock looking desperately for its own kind. The ever majestic sun shining away to glory not knowing that in a few hours to come its existence in the sky will come to an end, his empire in this part of the world will fall, people will rejoice, they shall come out, and praise the beauty of the moon without realizing that its just the more benevolent form of the sun itself. Still I like this afternoon, this lazy afternoon, this solitude, this tranquility, this serene atmosphere the purity of which comes to none in my opinion.
